2. Liverpool Lime Street - St.Helens
- Wigan Scheme
Scheme partially brought into operation on January 5th,
1959. Anticipated remainder of scheme would be introduced
in June, 1959.
3. St.Pancras Suburban Scheme
(a) Rolling Stock - Delivery
between April and December, 1959. Part of scheme would be
introduced in September, 1959 and complete scheme in January,
1960. Mr.Stanley will give the Chairman approximate date first
train can be sent to St.Pancras for inspection.
(b) Improvements to running
facilities between Harpenden and Bedford - Proceeding
to programme and will be completed by September, 1959.
(c) Cricklewood Maintenance Depot -
Commission approval given in principle for preliminary expenditure.
Formal submission now awaited. Mr.Baker reported that a draft plan
has been sent to the Chief Civil Engineer and he is now awaiting from
the Chief Mechanical and Electrical Enginner details of cost of equipment
required inside the shed. Mr.Stanley will pursue. Work on
site proceeding satisfactorily.
(d) Lengthening of platforms -
Agreed that Messrs.Gould and Lambert clarify the whole position
departmentally (including Signal Engineer).
(e) Closing of stations -
Noted that question of closing Napsbury station deferred to the next
meeting of the T.U.C.C.
(f) Publicity - Mr.Salmon will pursue in
conjunction with departments concerned. Mr.Pearson suggested that
publicity be undertaken in two stages, and Mr.Salmon will report his
proposals at the next meeting.
4. Bletchley - Oxford - Cambridge
Scheme approved by Area Board on February 4th and awaiting
Commission approval.
