Agreed subject to Minute 750 1(c) (1st paragraph on Page 3) being ammended to read:-
It was stated that, as the diesel multiple unit stock is more closely related to the normal level of traffic than is locomotive hauled stock, difficulty might be encountered in meeting the demand for peak summer additional passenger trains and it may be necessary to consider conserving some locomotive hauled stock, which would otherwise be displaced, against this eventuality.
The position in regard to schemes still to be submitted, some of which had already passed the target dates, was again reviewed and the present position noted as follows :-
Manchester Part 4 - Due for submission to the General Manager in November, 1959. Proposals now in the hands of the Chief Civil Engineer. Mr.Martin explained the difficulties which caused the delay. It was his intention to give reasonably firm estimates for the scheme including requirements at Lostock Hall, and he would personally arrange for the matter to be finalised. It was noted that 29 2-car units for the scheme had been included in the proposed 1961 building programme.
Manchester Part 6 - Accountant awaiting estimates from Chief Civil Engineer re redundant assets at Brunswick Motive Power Depot - Mr.Martin stated his enquiries were now almost complete, and Mr.Reynolds asked for the complete proposals to be submitted in time for the june meeting of the Area Board.
