The trains uniqueness and popularity saw them feature in many other places. Here are some examples.
This popular comic featured several two cutaway drawings by the artist Leslie Ashwell Wood.
A power car appeared in the 22 October 1960 issue.
The following week, the 29 October 1960 issue, featured the kitchen car.
A Pullman also appeared on the cover of the 1964 Eagle "New Book of Trains", artist unknown.
The Blue Pullman scans are courtesy of Dave Wilson, who has many hundreds of these Eagle cutways, and similar artwork, on his flickr pages.
The "Blue Streak" cutaway is from TV Express Weekly on 29 July 1961. The artist was not credited but it is in the style of Leslie Ashwell Wood. Scan also courtesy of Dave Wilson.
Note the leading bogie is wrongly shown with a traction motor.
Jigsaw puzzles were produced by Victory and Good Companion.
The colour page is from an unknown childrens book.
The next page is from an album issued with a comic book circa 1960 — exactly which has been lost in the mists of time — a new photo would be issued every week to cut out and glued into the album. Scan courtesy of Alan Grange.
The October 1960 issue of "Meccano Magazine" featured a Diesel Pullman unit on the cover. Can anyone recognize what station this is?
The "Ladybird Book of British Railway Locomotives" — published circa 1965 — featured the Blue Pullman. The image seem to be a colourised photograph. The scan is courtesy of Bob Gregory.
There were several different postcards produced by different printers.
A Valentine's postcard featuring the Midland Pullman.
A Salmon postcard featuring the Midland Pullman.
An Ian Allan postcard featuring the Midland Pullman.
An Ian Allan postcard featuring a Western Region Pullman.
An Ian Allan postcard featuring the Midland Pullman alongside a Peak.
An Dalkeith Special Series postcard with several different views.
This was a set of 25 cards originally issued by G.P. Teas in 1962 and card 6 was a six-car Midland Pullman.
The set was reissued by Hitchman's Dairies (date unconfirmed), Phillips Choice Tea in 1965 and Clover Dairies in 1973.
An eight-car Western Region diesel Pullman card issued by the Kellogg Company of Great Britian Limited in 1963. It was part of series 2 of 'The Story of the Locomotive' set of 16 cards.
This card was originally released in 1966 and re-issued in 1973. It was part of a series called 'Transport Through the Ages' featuring 50 cards.
For this final card I only have a scan of the front and have been unable to find the origin.
The proposed preservation plans in the Railway Magazine of July 1975 which had a call for official drawings "which might now be in the hands of collectors". This is notable as the original Met-Camm drawing collection that is now with the HMRS (Historical Model Railway Society) were missing the Blue Pullman drawings, which was to cause some problems for model manufacturers, it seems they 'disappeared' some time before.
Left: some *copies* of works drawings turn up now and again on places like ebay.
The National Railway Museum has some Blue Pullman drawings in its Pullman Car Company drawing collection. The drawing titles don't always indicate what vehicle type they refer to, but searching the list for 'diesel' shows about seventy results, such as PUL/161[D] "Multi-Diesel Express Trains Midland Region Arrangement of Eight Car Trains" and PUL/692 "Proposed Arrangement of Staff Compartment. New Multi-Diesel Unit".
