Class 119 DMU no. B580 (presumably 51066 closest) and Class 101 DMU no. B800 - with car no. W51515 nearest the camera - are seen at Swindon on Sunday 23/01/1977. With the exception of a few class 120 / 126 vehicles on the Scottish Region, Cross-Country and Inter-City DMUs (classes 119, 120, 123, 124, 126) generally went straight from green to blue & grey livery. In 1975, the Western Region acquired five 3-car class 101s, which they numbered 800-804, intended for Cross-Country work, thus they received blue & grey livery whilst still unrefurbished, unusually retaining headcode boxes, partial rainstrips and blue squares, etc, whilst carrying this livery. Graeme Phillips Collection.
The Lea Valley Railway Club 'The Royal Duchy' railtour departs Bodmin Road for Plymouth on 30 April 1977. Note the headboard Lea Valley Railway Club on the rear, on the front was the Royal Duchy headboard. The units were B800 and B802 brought down from Bristol for the tour, Met-Camm units were unusual in Cornwall at the time. Roger Geach.
Two Met-Camm DMUs at Plymouth on 30 April 1977. Sets B800 and B802 terminated here on the Lea Valley Railway Club Royal Duchy railtour with the passengers transferring to loco-hauled stock for the return to Paddington. Stuart Mackay Collection.
A Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads service operated by a class 101 dmu arrives at Yeovil Pen Mill on 9/8/80. The grassed area beyond the dmu was occupied by Pen Mill engine shed which closed in 1959 and to the right the line to Yeovil Town closed to all traffic in 1968. Set B800 probably has 51515 as the DMC leading, working with 59549 + 51445. Stephen Burdett.
Ex GWR 4-6-0, 4930 "Hagley Hall" is passed by Met-Cam Class 101 DMU, as it waits to back onto its train, The "Deeside Venturer", at Newport. Hagley Hall would work the train from Newport to Hereford, where King George V would take over. 4th October 1980. The DMU appears to be set B800, presumably 51445/59549/51515. Paul James.
The 13th September 1982, and the 13:49 Shrewsbury - Swansea is seen at Llandrindod Wells worked by set C800, presumably 51515 + 51445. Hamish Stevenson.
W51515 leads Class 101 DMU set C800 (the other vehicle presumably being 51445) on a down ECS seen on Swansea Loop East on 29 June 1984. Robert Thomas.

Simultaneous early evening arrivals at Battersby Junction and a rather well-dressed and certainly busy signal lady, 23rd August 1988. On the left 51515-51217 arriving from Middlesbrough, and on the right 51467-53240 arriving from Whitby. Gordon Edgar.
Class 101 51515 at Snailwell on 25th September 1990. Nicholas Youngman.
A DMU formation departs from Edinburgh Waverley for Glasgow Central via the Shotts line during June 1973. Carrying set number 171, this was listed as being a three car set formed 51491 + 56479 + Met-Camm DMC 51515. Alan Rintoul.
Exeter St Davids Devon 4th January 1975. As my train is departing westwards from the platform on the engine shed side at Exeter St Davids station we get a glimpse of the Great Western engine shed. The shed has been partially demolished but some of the stone buildings remain and a scattering of diesels are in residence. On the right is Class 101 DMU set P800 (presumably 51445 + 59549 + 51515) in blue livery. Pete LG99.
Class 101 DMU set B800 (presumably 51445 + 59549 + 51515) is seen in Southampton station with Gloucester Cross-Country set on 27 July 1976. Alistair Ness.
The Lea Valley Railway Club 'The Royal Duchy' railtour passing Respryn Bridge which is near Bodmin Road on the Lostwithiel side on 30 April 1977. It was formed of Class 101 DMU sets B802 (51521 and presumably 59550 + 51449) and B800 (presumably 51445 + 59549 + 51515) Roger Geach.

Class 101 DMU set B800 (51445 and presumably 59549 + 51515) stabled in the platform at Carmarthen with a Class 120 on 21 June 1981. Robert Thomas.
51445 is one of the vehicles in the Class 101 set (the other is presumably 51515) working with a Class 120 set at Llandrindod Wells. Undated. David Rowe.
Two-car Met-Camm Class 101 DMU set C800 (presumably 51445 + 51515) seen in Llandrindod Wells station with a Swansea service on 12 May 1984. Stuart Mackay Collection.
A Class 101 Metro Cammell 2-car DMU 51445 + 51515 arriving at Craven Arms with 18-21 to Hereford 11-7-84. On Tour With the Class 13 Army.

C800 (presumably 51445 + 51515) leads the 16:15 Swansea-Chester as it departs Port Talbot on 18 April 1986. Stuart Mackay Collection.
About to call at Thornaby Station is a Class 101 Met-Camm DMU formed of 53252 and 51515. I had just paid my £1 which gained me entrance to Thornaby TMD, which you could do in those days, wandering around a large TMD taking photographs etc. AndrewHA.
The peace of Battersby station is momentarily disturbed as Whitby and Middlesbrough Esk Valley services briefly meet and reverse. On 23rd August 1988, Metropolitan-Cammell Class 101 two-car units 53240 - 51467 and 51217 - 51515 form Middlesbrough and Whitby-bound services respectively. The surviving NER 1907-built water crane is a remarkable survivor. Gordon Edgar.
Simultaneous arrivals are commonplace at principal rail termini, but such an occurrence was hardly expected at the remote outpost of Battersby. During the early evening of 23rd August 1988, the smartly dressed signal lady is poised to accept the single-line token from the arriving Whitby to Middlesbrough service, formed of Class 101 units 51467 - 53240, whilst arriving right on cue from Middlesbrough is the Whitby service, formed of Class 101 units 51515 - 51217. Rather sadly, the 1902-built NER Type C2b signal box was to close almost one year later, on 20th August 1989, when control was transferred to Nunthorpe signal box. Gordon Edgar.
Metro-Cammell class 101 unit 51217-51515 forming an afternoon Middlesbrough - Whitby 'Esk Valley' service departs from Battersby Junction on 23rd August 1988. Unit 53240-51467 stands in the station forming a Whitby - Middlesbrough service. Gordon Edgar.
Metro-Cammell class 101 units 51217-51515 (on the right) forming a Whitby service and 53240-51467 (left) forming a Middlesbrough service at Battersby Junction on 23rd August 1988. Gordon Edgar.
