107442 (presumably 52003) is on display at Ayr station at the Open Days of 29th and 30th (pictured) October 1983. The Open Days were held to celebrate the announcement of the electrification of the railway to Glasgow, which was completed in September 1986. Gordon Thomson.
A hybrid DMU formed SC52003 + SC59565 + SC52035 in Largs station waiting to depart to Glasgow Central on 28 December 1983. Just a few days later 52003 would be caught in a fire in Ayr depot and withdrawn. Brian Daniels.
