Class 107 DMU at Glasgow Central

18th August 1979

Set number: 150

Class 107 Set 150 Vehicle 52004 at Glasgow Central. 18/08/1979. Destination East Kilbride. Alistair Logie.

Class 107 DMU at Hamilton depot

18th April 1981

Set number: 150

Hamilton depot, 18 April 1981. Closest is a Class 107 vehicle, the odd placement of the overhead flash identifies it as SC52004. On the left is a single suburban vehicle, probably a 116. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Class 107 DMU at Johnstone

June 1982

Set number: 107443

107 443 (presumably 52004 + 59805 + 52016) heads out of Johnstone station in June 1982. Andrew McConnell.

Class 107 DMU at Paisley Gilmour Street

Unknown date

Set number: 107443

107443 is led by 52004 at Paisley Gilmour Street. Date unknown. Andrew McConnell.

Class 107 DMU at Pettycur

August 1987

Set number: 107443

Class 107 Pettycur Aug 1987. By this time it was a case of "anything goes". This class was never common on Fife Circle workings and definitely not in SPT orange livery which the leading car is wearing, but by then the corporate identity manual had more or less been abandoned. Closest appears to be 107443 / 52004. Alistair Ness.

Class 107 DMU at Haymarket

August 1987

Set number: 107443

The train now arriving at Platform 4...is for Glasgow Central via Shotts. Class 107 set 443 is seen arriving at Haymarket in August 1987. SC52004 is leading, SC59805 is the centre car, and normally SC52016 would be bringing up the rear, but we can just make out a Strathclyde orange and black livery on the last vehicle so presumably a temporary substitution has been made. Murray Liston.

Class 107 DMU at Kilmaurs

29th May 1989

Set number: 107743

107743 (presumably with 52004 closest) heading away from the camera in the countryside to the north of Kilmaurs, between Kilmarnock & Barrhead, with the 11.59 Kilmarnock - Glasgow Central on 29-05-1989. This was not long before the class 156 Sprinters took over this service. The line was singled in 1974. Gordon Thomson.

Class 107 DMU at North Berwick

7th February 1990

Set number: 107743

107743 in North Berwick station with the 10:54 to Edinburgh Waverley on the 7th February 1990. DMBS 52004 is closest, the other cars should be 59805 and 52016. Mike Cooper.

Class 107 DMU at Glasgow Queen Street

1991

Set number: 107043

107 043 sits in Glasgow Queen Street in 1991, Sc52004 is at the front, presumably with 59805 and 52016. John Law.

The vehicle is mentioned in the following images:

DMU

Date: 4th January 1983

Set number: 105376

Cravens / Derby lash up 105 376 is being readied for departure from Paisley Canal on a Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm service. An old notebook suggests this is Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004. Whilst the majority of services at Canal were the hourly all station Kilmacolm services, there were a couple of services to / from Largs or Ardrossan with additional peak hour services to / from Canal. Tuesday 04 January 1983. alicia hartman.

DMU

Date: 4th January 1983

Set number: 105376

Mixed 105 376 Cravens / Derby Set coasts into Paisley Canal with a Kilmacolm - Glasgow Central working. An old notebook suggests this is Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004. Passenger services would cease the following Saturday. A Paisley Canal - Glasgow service was resurrected in 1990 albeit from a new station on the Glasgow side of Causeyside Street, to the east. The land here to the west was sold off in due haste post closure and built over. Thus the realistic prospect of the Canal line being returned as a through route was stymied. Tuesday 04 January 1983. alicia hartman.

DMU

Date: 7th January 1983

Set number: 105376

Last Days. Cravens E51493 at Glasgow Central having arrived as part of a late afternoon working from Kilmacolm along with its Derby partners. An old notebook suggests this is probably Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004 which was used on Kilmacolm services on 04 January. Homeward bound commuters seem to be drifting along the then Platform 13 for another service, past the 'Front Train Beyond This Point' board in the distance. This would now be Platform 15 at Central. Probably Friday 07 January 1983. alicia hartman.

DMU

Date: 7th January 1983

Set number: 105376

Last Days. An afternoon Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm service with mixed 105 376 (Class 105 / 107) is heading west from Houston and Crosslee. The train has passed under Sandholes Road and is heading towards the Lochermill Viaduct thence Bridge of Weir. An old notebook suggests this is probably Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004 which was used on Kilmacolm services earlier that week on 04 January. The outskirts of Bridge of Weir are visible in the distance, above the train. It is still possible to travel along here - but on a bicycle on the National Cycle Network! Probably Friday 07 January 1983. alicia hartman.

DMU

Date: August 1987

Class 107 Pettycur Aug 1987. By this time it was a case of "anything goes". This class was never common on Fife Circle workings and definitely not in SPT orange livery which the leading car is wearing, but by then the corporate identity manual had more or less been abandoned. The DMBS on the rear is thought to be 52004. Alistair Ness.
