The 13¾ mile Buntingford branch in Hertfordshire had six intermediate stops and connected with London - Hertford East services at St. Margaret's.
The line was operated by Stratford allocated sets. The DMUs were introduced on 15 June 1959, with through branch trains to London ending at that time. The branch timetable was altered to suit connections at St. Margaret's when the electric service on the Hertford East branch was commenced on 21 November.[1]
The Branch was a victim of the Beeching Report, which recommended it for closure, and the passenger service was withdrawn on 14 November 1964.
