Class 114 DMU at Buxworth Cutting

15th February 1969

A Derby 1956 built class 114 dmu forming a Sheffield-New Mills Central local service ascends the 1-in-96 gradient as it drifts through the snow on the Down Slow line in Buxworth Cutting on 15th February 1969. Andrew J Crowther.

Class 114 DMU at Chinley

18th April 1973

Chinley With the set of tracks on the right at this time being recently taken out of use, a Lincoln allocated Derby 1956 built class 114 dmu is approaching Chinley station, working a New Mills Central-Sheffield local service through the Hope Valley. 18th April 1973. Andrew J Crowther.

Class 105 DMU at Edale

1975

A Lincoln allocated Cravens set, 56445 + 51287, rolls into Edale station on a Sheffield - New Mills local working sometime in 1975. John Crooks.

Class 114 DMU at Edale

25th October 1977

A 2-car Class 114 DMU (vehicles 56047 + 50030) calls at Edale working the 12.20 Sheffield-New Mills on 25 October 1977. The 2 vehicles had a long working life on BR. 50030 was new (to 40A Lincoln) on 24 January 1957, and was withdrawn from TS Tyseley on 4 October 1987. It was scrapped at MC Metals, in Glasgow. 56047 was new (also to 40A) on 17 April 1957 and was withdrawn from TS on 4 October 1989. It is now preserved on the Strathspey Railway. Lewis Bevan.

Of all the railway photographs that i've taken over the years, it will always be this one that reminds me of all those happy days in the sunshine as a kid sat on Marsh Lane road bridge here. At this time the tracks off to the left by the signal box were freight only, the Lincoln allocated Derby 1956 built class 114 dmu is passing with a New Mills Central-Sheffield local service, 14th August 1983. 2nd March 1985

Class 114 Derby Heavywreight 2-car DMU 53017 + 54005 arrived New Mills Central from Sheffield 2-3-85. The Hope Valley stoppers from Sheffield terminated at New Mills during this timetable. On Tour With the Class 13 Army.

Class 114 DMU at Sheffield

5th June 1985

54004 + 53045 in South Yorkshire PTE livery departing Sheffield with the 15.15 to New Mills Central on 5 June 1985. A Class 110 can be glimpsed in the sidings on the right, this is thought to be 51841 (leading 52075) which would move into the station to work the 15.42 to Huddersfield from platform 1 (see image 29072). Coasting down through Buxworth cutting with a Hope Valley, Sheffield-New Mills Central local service, is a Lincoln based Derby Heavyweight class 114 dmu, made up of cars E53027 & E54032. 7th September 1985. Andrew J Crowther.

Class 105 DMU at Buxworth Cutting

29th November 1985

Lincoln allocated Cravens class 105 dmu made up of cars E51284 + E54442, enter Buxworth cutting, with Sheffield on it's blind, is returning from New Mills Central with a Hope Valley stopping service on 29th November 1985. Not a particularly good photograph by any means, but one of the few i have of this class being Eastern region allocated, they worked the local services through the Hope Valley and terminated at New Mills Central.
