DMU Operations: Eastern Region

Lea Valley Lines

Class 125 DMUs began to be introduced to these services via Tottenham Hale on 19 January 1959. Their 238hp engines allowed them the same performance as the EMUs with which they interworked between Hertford East/Bishops Stortford and Cheshunt, and helped on the climb from Liverpool Street to Bethnal Green.

The Tottenham Hale line was electrified in 1969 and the DMUs moved to Great Northern Line services.
