DMU Operations: Eastern Region
Norwich - Dereham - Wells-next-the-Sea
Norwich allocated Derby Lightweight DMUs were introduced to the service on Monday 19th September 1955, and were joined by Met-Camm Lightweights a few months later.
The Dereham to Well section closed to passengers on Monday 5 October 1964, the last passengers trains ran on Saturday 3rd.

A Met-Camm publicity image of a 2-car "Lightweight" set working a Norwich-Wells service. The location is probably beside the River Wensum near Sennowe Park on the County School to Ryburgh section of the Wells branch, looking north west. Trailer car E79268 is leading. The date will be the mid 1950's given the clean condition of the set which evidently hasn't seen a huge amount of service. Chris Moxon Collection.
