780. MINUTES OF MEETING OF JUNE 9th, 1960

Agreed.

781. GENERAL MATTERS OF POLICY

1. Position of Schemes still to be submitted

The four schemes concerned in the vehicles required to be included in the 1961 Building Programme and for which the Commission have requested individual schemes were reviewed as follows:-

Manchester Part 10 - Being considered at the July meeting of the Area Board.

Manchester Part 4 - Proposals in circulation for signature by Departmental Officers and should be submitted to the August meeting of the Area Board.

Manchester Part 6 - Accountant has now received information regarding redundant assets at Brunswick Motive Power Depot.  Scheme in course of preparation and should be prepared in time for submission to August meeting of the Area Board.

Manchester Part 5 - It was noted that although a scheme had been prepared for submission, the anticipated financial results were not sufficiently favourable as to justify submission to the Area Board.

The proposals had been prepared on the basis of operation of the whole scheme by MC + MC units but it was felt that in order to reduce the capital cost, the possibility of operating certain sections of the line by MC + DT units should be investigated.

Details of the proposals were discussed and in view of the observations of the Officers concerned, the Chairman directed that the whole scheme be re-examined but at the same time stressed the necessity for a submission to be made to the Area Board at the earliest possible moment.
