SC53146 is seen in the platform at Rosyth Dockyard as part of a shuttle running for the open day on June 16, 1984. On the left is a 107 on 'The Tay-Forth Venturer' railtour. Hamish Stevenson.
Three-car Met-Camm DMU set 101 321 departs from Glasgow Central circa 1986. The leading car is presumably 53146. Mike Bunker.
101321 (presumably 53146 + 59542 + 51249) departs from Edinburgh Waverley 11 March 1986. Notice how the set number is also carried on the end of the centre car. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Ayr TMD allocated Class 101 set number 101321 formed of Class 101 DMCL 53146 nearest camera, TCL 59542 and DMBS 51249 all in Strathclyde PTE orange / black livery have just arrived in Platform 11 at Glasgow Central Station on the 4th June 1986 and have stopped next to a former LMR based Class 120 3 car set set in Platform 10 operating an Ayrshire service for the coast. Bob Woolnough.
101321 (53146 + 59542 + 51249) form the 20:02 to East Kilbride in Glasgow Central on 7 August 1986. Stuart Mackay Collection.
101 321 passes another 101 at Haymarket. Date unknown, 53146 closest. Andrew McConnell.
101321 (presumably 53146 closest) at Dunlop on the 12.45 Glasgow Central - Kilmarnock, 23-11-1987. A futile attempt to take a shot in poor light. This looks like the train's heading into the sunset - actually it was the middle of a cold November day. The sun glints on the rails ahead. This was once double track. The area on the right became totally overgrown. To the left (the old goods yard) is now housing, with an obscenely high fence totally hemming in the platform. In 2009, the line from Stewarton to Lugton was re-doubled, and this view of Dunlop station has been totally transformed. It is now a twin track station again, and benefitting from a half hourly service between Kilmarnock and Glasgow. Gordon Thomson.
On 14 April 1991 former Strathclyde class 101, now Tyseley set T078 with 53146 + 51249 were calling at Nottingham station while working an eastbound train. The destination blind is blank so I have no idea of the destination but either Lincoln or Skegness are possibilities. Most of the waiting passengers were clearly waiting for a later train as none seem to be moving towards the DMU. Peter Tandy.
101 321 (presumably 53146 closest) heads up Cowlairs incline away from Glasgow Queen Street on 8/7/89. It's been stripped of almost all of its roof ventilators. John Reddyhoff.
Strathclyde PTE liveried Class 101 set 101321 prepares to leave Glasgow Queen Street with a Dunblane service on the 6th February 1990. The driver is boarding DMS 53146. Mike Cooper.
Set 101 321 seen in Glasgow Central on the 1st August 1990. It was formed of 53146, 59542 and 51249. Graeme Phillips.
53146 + 51249 (T078) are seen at Rose Hill with the 14:23 to Piccadilly, 21-2-91. Kevin Dowd.
Class 101 set T078 (presumably 53146 + 51249) seen in Llandudno Junction on the 29th May 1991. Hamish Stevenson.
One of the more colourful units to arrive at Stratford-upon-Avon was this ex-Strathclyde class 101 (T078, 53146 + 51249). I saw it on the morning of 1 July 1991 but was unable to get out of the office during the day to record it on film. However, it stuck to diagram and is pictured here leaving the Warwickshire terminus in the company of Class 117 T310 still in corporate blue and grey. The Tyseley unit unit number appears to been applied in a rather amateurish fashion, as does the paint covering the front-end damage - the colour there is more akin to the bodyside shade rather than the normal yellow. Still, I suppose that this were the final months of DMMU workings in the area, so it probably wasn't worth spending too much on the cosmetic appearance of local trains. Peter Tandy.
Tyseley Class 101 power twin set T078 (53146 + 51249) approaches Hereford on 26 July 1991. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 101 set T078 (presumably 53146 + 51249) is seen at Blythe Bridge in September 1991. Simon Barnes.
A Metropolitan Cammell image (negative DZ155) showing a brand new four-car DMU set for the North Eastern Region in Sutton Park station. DMSL E50147 is closest (with many staff on board), TBLS E59053 behind, the other two vehicles are presumably TSL E59046 and DMSL E50146. They were listed as new to South Gosforth on 9 November 1956. Metropolitan Cammell.

A Metropolitan Cammell image showing a brand new four-car DMU set for the North Eastern Region in Sutton Park station. The vehicles are almost certainly E50147 + E59053 + E59046 + E50146 which were listed as new to South Gosforth on 9 November 1956. Note the white disks in the two lower outer marker lamps. Metropolitan Cammell.
37403 on trip Working 6T85 at Sighthill East Jcn after collecting and propelling 101 321 (presumably 53146 + 59542 + 51249) from Glasgow Works (St Rollox) on 9/7/85. Spannerman37025.
Sthrathclyde-liveried set 101321 (51249 closest, presumably with 59542 + 53146) at Johnstone with the 13:00 Glasgow - Ayr service on August 28th, 1986. Hamish Stevenson.
A scene at Ayr station on 15/9/86, with a class 120 "scratch set", formed of 53722/59682/53742, waiting to work the 13.40 to Kilmarnock. Alongside is unit 101 321 (51249/59542/53146). Leonard Rogers.
DMUs 107449 (52010 presumably closest) arrives into Glasgow Central station as 101321 (53146 presumably closest) departs. August 24th, 1987. David Christie.
Away from its usual area are cars SC51249 SC59542 SC53146 (101 321) in Strathclyde PTE livery. Although Heaton (HT) depot, Newcastle, received some varied DMUs in Autumn 1987, these cars were never allocated there, so it was probably en route for works attention. Indeed, I photographed this unit at Glasgow in 1990. Graeme Phillips Collection.
51249 at the front of set 101321 (presumably with 59542 + 53146) waiting to depart from Glasgow Queen Street with the 16:03 to Arbroath on the 5th February 1990. Mike Cooper.
Class 101 51249, set number T078 (presumably with 53146), is seen stabled outside the factory at Tyseley on 26.12.1990. This had been transferred down from Scotland, and was not one of the refurbished examples. These did make a strange sight working in the West Midlands in their Strathclyde PTE livery. Andy Cole.
The class 101 unit (T078, 51249 + 53146) fitted nicely between various posts at the end of Stratford-upon-Avon's platform 2 on 1 July 1991. It was working with T310 (presumably 51373 + 59486 + 51415). The scene has changed a lot since this photograph was taken in that the gasholders have been demolished, the semaphore signals have been replaced with electric lights (twice) and a white paling fence has been erected to deter trespassers from getting onto the line. Peter Tandy.
