On 19 October 1975, the cab of Transpennine Driving motor composite coach E51960 is seen side-on at York station. This was built at Swindon Works in 1960. Jeremy Chapter.
A five-car Class 124 "Trans-Pennine" DMU in York station on 11 July 1976. George Woods.
E51960 is a motor open composite car, described on the layout diagram as "Inter-Cities Diesel Train" (sic) but the class were known generally as "Transpennine" units. They were built at Swindon Works and new in 1960. This particular formation has at least four cars and was seen at York on 16 April 1977. Jeremy Chapter.

Dating from 1960, one of the stylish Swindon built Class 124 Trans-Pennine DMU sets, with Driving Motor Composite E51960 nearest the camera, was stabled at Longsight Depot on August 31st 1980. Built at Swindon as six-car units including a buffet car, for use between Liverpool and Hull, they were reduced to four-cars towards the end of their careers, some becoming hybrid units with a mix of Class 124 and Class 123 cars. Class 124 51960 leads a Hull - Manchester service through Chinley on the 28th April 1984. Originally operated as 6 car sets, this was the final formation with a 124 at one end and a 123 at the other. Mike Dean.

A Trans-Pennine DMU in Leeds station circa 1969. Only two of these vehicles are known to have had the cab doors painted yellow - NE51960 which had the blue squares inside the lamp brackets, and NE51963 which had the blue squares outside - so this should be the latter, unless there were more than two?
