The line's original terminus (now known as Falmouth Docks) was closed on 7 December 1970 when a new station (using the same Falmouth name) was opened about 1/2 mile nearer the town. On 5 May 1975 the original terminus was re-opened, and reclaimed the Falmouth name, the newer station becoming "The Dell" as a through station. This lasted until 15 May 1989, when the newer station was renamed as Falmouth Town, and the terminus as Falmouth Docks.
