The driver of E50751 holds out the token at Battersby. The train was the 16:44 Middlesbrough-Whitby on 12 August 1981. Robert Thomas.
E50751 taken from E56091 passing on goods lines, Whitehouse, Middlesbrough, on May 9th, 1982. John Carter.
Class 101 DMSL 53751 at Mount Bures on the Sudbury branch and this is thought to be one of the 'Stour Valley Steamer' shuttles on 29 December 1991. Stuart Mackay Collection.
(L837) 53751 + 51437 leaving Kings Lynn in August 1992. This had been a 3 car set before with 59128 as the centre car. Nicholas Youngman.
On November 2nd, 1980, E50751 + E59085 + unknown DMBS closest are seen with the 11:25 SuO Saltburn - Darlington service at Redcar Central. John Carter.
Two DMUs in Battersby station on 12 August 1981. On the left E50162 is working the 16:10 Whitby - Middlesbrough while on the right E50293 (E50751 is the blue vehicle in the set) is on the 16:44 Middlesbrough - Whitby. Robert Thomas.
E53220 + E53751 are seen in what was then platform 11 at Newcastle, 14/09/1984. Graeme Phillips Collection.
Less commonplace at Mortimer on the Reading to Basingstoke line than the regular DEMUs and giving a welcome splash of colour on the beautiful evening of 23 June 1989 was class 101 unit L837 led by 51437 (presumably with 59128 + 53751). The well-preserved platelayers hut was a bit of a rarity even then with most of these structures having long since become derelict. It looks as if the original brick-built hut has been lost but replaced by a newish garden shed although the chimney and fireplace survived. I guess that this was still in use at the time and I do recall talking to a ganger on this stretch of line who said that the good state of the track was a matter of considerable pride to him and his colleagues. Peter Tandy.
Class 101 DMU Set L837 - 51437 + 59128 + 53751 - at Guildford on 1 July 1989. Rob Paterson.
Met-Camm Class 101 set L837 (presumably 51437 + 59128 + 53751) with a Pressed Steel Class 117 set arriving at Southall circa August 1989. Stuart Mackay Collection.
DMUs out Southall, Class 117 L413 (presumably 51391 + 59501 + 51349) and Class 101 L837 (53751 + 59128 + 51437), circa late 1990. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Set L837 heads for Gatwick Airport at Horley on 8/10/90. The DMBS leading should be 51437, followed by 59128 + 53751. Rex Holt.
Three-car Met-Camm set L837 (presumably 51437 + 59128 + 53751) arriving at Southall circa late 1990. The centre car seems to have had all its roof vents removed, the DMBS seems to have had them partially removed. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 101 DMU set L837 (51437 + 59128 + 53751) in Paddington station on 13 April 1991. Dave Warby.
Class 101 set L837 with 51437 closest (and presumably 53751) at Downham Market station in August 1992. Nicholas Youngman.
