DMBS E51293 is nearest to the camera (and seems to be carrying set number 40) leaving Beccles station, which is between Lowestoft and Ipswich in Suffolk, circa 1980. Graeme Phillips Collection.

Cravens in the Capital. Liverpool Street 12/09/86. By late 1986 the class 105 Cravens built 2-car DMU fleet was in rapid decline with only a handful of operational sets in passenger service. Several Anglia Region examples had been down graded for parcels train use with seating removed and reclassified as DPU's (Diesel Parcel Units). Seen here in London Liverpool Street station one such example a Cambridge allocated 2-car DPU set is seen waiting departure with 4H04 the 16.10 Parcels service to Cambridge. The train was booked one intermediate call at Harlow Town and was due into Cambridge at 17.33, no doubt a lively run on the mainline for the old girl. Closest is 51293, the only one of the parcel vehicles not to have the top lamp position on the dome. Adrian Nicholls.

E51293 in Whitemoor circa 1989. E51293 was renumbered to 55944 but the number never carried. It was moved to Snailwell in December 1991. Nicholas Youngman Collection.
At the northern stub of the surviving portion of the former Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway (M&GNJR) still in use as part of the national network, a Cravens Class 105 two-car DMU formed of cars E56114 & E51293 had arrived at Sheringham with a service from Norwich via a reversal at Cromer on April 29th 1980. The single platform terminus at Sheringham, complete with its BR Eastern Region dark blue enamel sign, opened on January 2nd 1967 enabling the closure of the adjacent level crossing and the original M&GNJR station (now owned by the North Norfolk Railway). The single platform was intended as a temporary station as the line was scheduled for closure. In the event, it has gone on to be upgraded to accommodate the new Greater Anglia Class 755 DMU's. A connection from the Network Rail line at Sheringham to the North Norfolk Railway was opened in 2010. Martyn Hilbert.
Cravens Class 105 stands in the North Bay at Cambridge Station in July 1984. The DTC nearest the camera is E54131 and it's assumed that its normal DMBS E51293 (forming Set 40) is behind. Electric trains at Cambridge were still three years away. Simon Hadden.
