This is the sort of shot that's nearly impossible to take with modern rolling stock. DMU set C354 (presumably 50847 + 59040 + 50900) is leaving the single line section south of Abercynon with the 15.50 Merthyr-Barry Island, while C301 (presumably 51149 + 59446 + 51136) waits with the 15.05 from Barry Island to Merthyr. The Saturdays-only Paddington to Stratford-upon-Avon DMU, unusually formed of set TS603, 2 class 116 cars sandwiching a Met-Camm trailer (the vehicles are presumably M51136, M59106 and M51149), rather than the usual 6 cars. Taken from the platform at South Ruislip, date unknown. Someone has changed the destination board to Birmingham Moor Street possibly to ready it for work the following day. I doubt if this caused too much confusion at least until the train reached Leamington Spa! David Ive.
