South from North Berwick. A Met Camm triple set 101346 (presumably 51532 + 59554 + 51798) rasps away up the hill out of North Berwick in June 1982, passing the 10mph sign for incoming trains to the branch terminus. Murray Liston.

Fences and Farmland. Eastfield Met Camm DMU 101346 (presumably 51798 + 59554 + 51532) is seen on the North Berwick branch near Drem in June 1982. Murray Liston.
North Berwick departure. Met Camm DMU 101346 (presumably 51798 + 59554 + 51532) departs from North Berwick in June 1982. The line into this station had been singled back in 1968 when the adjacent goods yard and engine shed were closed. Three years after this photo, the entire site was razed and given over to housing and a car park, with a new platform constructed where the DMU is seen here. Murray Liston.
The Hertfordshire Railtours 'Highland Fling II' was primarily a loco hauled long weekend land cruise tour from London to Scotland but on Easter Sunday 30/03/86 there was a DMU tour aimed at enthusiasts rather than the wine and dine passengers. It left Edinburgh Waverley at 09.00 formed of 2x3-car DMU sets 116 389 (53825+59329+53873) and 101 346 (51467+59554+51532). The 3hr 20min mini tour was billed as going to RNAD Crombie, Longannet Power Station and the Inverkeithing north curve avoiding line. The traversal of the power station branch was as far as the signal box as the MGR loop was deemed too tight to take passenger stock without a risk of buffer locking. The branch to Crombie didn't have a photo stop but only reached Charlestown Foundry Level Crossing which was a quarter mile short of the line end at Braeside Jcn where the MOD took over. The tour then did the curve at Inverkeithing before returning to Edinburgh at lunchtime for most participants to rejoin the main t Adrian Nicholls.
On the afternoon of the 23rd July 1986 a 3 car Class 101 unit sits in Glasgow Queen Street Station awaiting it’s next turn of duty. DMBS SC51467 leads the formation followed by TCL SC59554 with DMCL SC51532 bringing up the rear. It’s very quiet on the Platforms but with the clock above the leading cab showing just after 3pm I’m sure that won’t last very long. The rear 2 vehicles were scrapped by Vic Berry, Leicester SC59554 in October 1988, and SC51532 in July 1990, while the leading car SC51467 met it’s end at Snailwell during September 1990. Bob Woolnough.
