Class 107 DMU at Hamilton depot

Unknown date

A Derby triple DMU - later a Class 107 - seen on Hamilton depot circa mid-1960s. The closest car could be SC52001, the Z on the headcode suggests its last working was some sort of special. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Class 107 DMU at Bridge of Weir

23rd June 1981

Set number: 107440

107 440 (presumably 52001 leading) arrives at a busy Bridge of Weir station on the 23rd June 1981 with the 08:17 Kilmacolm - Glasgow service. Hamish Stevenson.

Class 107 DMU at Elderslie

7th January 1983

Set number: 107440

Set 107 440 working the 12:07 Glasgow - Kilmacolm service at Elderslie on January 7, 1983. The DMBS closest is presumably 52001. Hamish Stevenson.

Class 107 DMU at Elderslie

15th June 1983

Set number: 1017440

Two Class 107s (107440 and presumably 52001 leading) approach the site of the closed Elderslie station at the head of the 09:45 Ayr to Glasgow Central service on Wednesday 15th June 1983. Elderslie was once a major junction on the old Glasgow & South Western system. Separate lines from Glasgow via both Paisley stations (Gilmour Street and Canal) once converged at the east end of the station whilst, to the west, the line to Greenock Princes Pier diverged from the main line to the Ayrshire coast and Stranraer. This view is looking west, the rusting rails leading towards Greenock can be seen diverging to the left just beyond the signal gantry before dropping down behind Elderslie No 2 box and passing under the Ayrshire lines to head north. The line from Greenock can be seen emerging from the right to the rear of the DMU. Elderslie station itself had closed in 1966 and this was taken from the footbridge which had once given access to the station, also now long gone. Brian McDevitt.

Class 107 DMU at Lochgreen Junction

circa August 1986

Set number: 107440

107 440 (and presumably 52001) leads this DMU formation at what is thought to be the former Lochgreen Junction, south of Troon, on the Ayr line heading north to Glasgow circa summer 1986. Brian Ward.

Class 107 DMU at Garscadden

30th August 1987

Set number: 107440

The BLS 'Firth of Lorne' tour about to pass through Garscadden station on 30 August 1987 on its way to Oban. It was formed of 107440 (presumably 52001 closest) and 101338. Brian Ward.

Class 107 DMU at Dundee

25th March 1989

Strathclyde Orange and Black vehicle Sc52001 sitting facing Class 26 26010 in the holding sidings above Dundee station. At the time I had no interest in Multiple Units so have no further information. Taken across the running lines below after the once extensive railway yards had been removed but before the current (2022) developments had been started. These sidings are still in use but the background is completely different. Alistair Fyffe.

The vehicle is mentioned in the following images:

DMU

Date: 7th January 1983

Set number: 107

A Class 107 set at Elderslie with the 12:07 Glasgow - Kilmacolm service on January 7, 1983. The DMBS at the far end is marked 107 440, presumably 52001. The DMS closest has had part of the set number obscured, suggesting a recent change. Hamish Stevenson.

DMU

Date: 22nd July 1987

Set number: 107440

107440 (presumably 52025 + 59783 + 52001) with another DMU arrives at Glasgow Central on July 22, 1987. David Christie.
