When DMUs were introduced (which seems to be with the winter timetable on Monday 19th September 1955), this was two independant services, Norwich - Melton Constable direct via Lenwade, and Cromer - Melton Constable via Sheringham.
Lightweight DMUs, from Derby and Met-Camm, were used, which were allocated to Norwich depot.
When the Norwich - Lenwade - Melton Constable section closed to passengers in March 1959, services then ran from Norwich to Melton Constable via Cromer.
The Sheringham - Melton Constable section would close to passengers in April 1964, leaving a Norwich - Sheringham service.
