Class 105 DMU at Hertford North

8th June 1963

Hertford North station looking north, with a Cravens DMU, 08/06/1963. The station, which opened in 1924, is situated on the 'Hertford Loop' which runs parallel with the GNR main line between Wood Green and Stevenage. On the right of the photo is the single track connection to Hertford Cowbridge (the original Hertford North station) and Hertford East. John Cosford.

11th May 1974

A Hertford - Kings Cross Class 125 DMU (with oval buffers) pauses at Finsbury Park on 11 May 1974. I can only assume that this platform arrangement was to facilitate rapid unloading. Kevin Lane.

Class 105 DMU at Barbican

31st July 1975

Evening rush-hour Cravens action at Barbican on 31 July 1975. A Hatfield-bound set passes another heading ECS into Moorgate to work out later to Hertford North. Comments to this image on flickr by Mister C notes that on the right is the 1817 Moorgate to Hatfield but, looking at the timetables, the Hertford train was a bizarre working. The Cravens on the left came up as 1617 Royston to Kings Cross York Road and ran ecs to Barbican. It reversed there, without going into Moorgate, going empty back to Farringdon to form 1827 Farringdon to Hertford North. Note that it is not carrying a tail lamp. Kevin Lane.

Class 105 DMU at Farringdon

18th August 1976

It has often baffled me as to how it took over 70 years to restore the link between Farringdon and Blackfriars. Having done so, look what it a success it has been! Before all this, a trio of Cravens DMU sets form the 18.27 to Hertford North, at Farringdon on 18 August 1976. Kevin Lane.

Class 105 DMU at Kings Cross York Road

6th November 1976

This is a bit of a gloomy old slide, but nevertheless records, according to the information on the card mount, the 08.25 from Hertford North, the last GNR line train to Moorgate, seen at Kings Cross (York Road) on Saturday 6 November 1976. Kevin Lane Collection.
