DMU Operations: Scottish Region

Glasgow Central - Paisley Canal

This was formerly part of the Glasgow - Kilmacolm service, which ran beyond Canal station to Elderslie East Junction and onwards. Those services ended in January 1983.

Paisley Canal regained a passenger train service in July 1990, becoming the terminus of services from Glasgow Central using a new platform at the Glasgow side of the original station.

Initially Class 156s were used, but from late 1992 Strathclyde liveried Class 101 1016xx sets allocated to Corkerhill took over. At the same time a new passing loop was opened between Mosspark and Crookston allowed the frequency to double to half-hourly.

First Generation DMU use ended in 2000 when Second Generation units took over.
