The mixture of DMU types allocated to Hamilton depot would be used on these services with the occassional one from Ayr depot (such as Class 126s) observed. Latterly the 1016xx sets from Corkerhill were used.
When DMUs were introduced to the service the Glasgow terminus was St Enoch. When it closed in June 1966 Central station became the Glasgow terminus.

Derby Suburban Class 116 threads its way through the complex trackwork on the approach to Glasgow Central High Level with the 14:12 (SO) from East Kilbride. The DMBS of Set 166 is all blue but the trailer is in blue / grey. The Class 314 EMU in the background would have been a rare visitor to the High Level at that time. Derby Class 107 triple heads south and crosses Haggs Road on a skew bridge, forming the 12.14 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride service. The DMU has passed under the west side of the electrified Cathcart Circle and the next stop will be Pollokshaws West. The wooded area in the distance is part of Pollok Park.
