Dundee allocated DMUs were introduced to the local service on this 35¼ mile section of the main line to Inverness on Monday 15 June 1959.[1]

A two-car Met-Camm DMU heads south into Perth, probably on a service from Blair Atholl, seen from High Street bridge on 18 April 1964. The DMBS was recorded as SC51246, which was allocated to Dundee depot at the time. Stuart Mackay Collection.
A Type 2 (Class 24) on goods passes a Met-Camm unit at Murthly on 19 September 1964. The station would close the following year. The DMU, with set number 55 in the cab window and probably allocated to Dundee, is working a Perth - Blair Atholl local service. Stuart Mackay Collection.
A two car Met-Camm (presumably Dundee-based) calls at Dunkeld & Birnam en route to Blair Atholl. This was probably in the latter days of the local service which ceased in May 1965 - there appears to be a “Withdrawal of Services” notice on the opposite platform. Uploaded by kind permission of Graham Maxtone. Unknown.
A two-car Met-Camm enters Ballinluig Junction station with a Blair Atholl - Perth service on April 3rd, 1965. Hamish Stevenson.
A Met-Camm twin DMU in Murthly station on 26 April 1965. Likely on a Blair Atholl - Perth service, the DMBS seems to be SC51454, its partner is in Rail Blue livery. Stuart Mackay Collection.
