The 2 ¾ mile Alnwick branch connected to the East Coast Main Line at Alnmouth. DMUs were introduced to the Newcastle - Alnwick services from 21 April 1958[1]. The passenger service on the branch ended in January 1968, after which the service became a Newcastle - Alnmouth service.
