Derby lightweight at Huddersfield

Unknown date

975010 - the former M79900 and later known as Iris - in what appears to be Huddersfield station, date unknown. It had been transferred to departmental use at York in 1967 and appears to be on route learning duties. It was used for route learning in preparation for the introduction of Huddersfield-Penistone-Sheffield Midland DMU service on 5 January 1970, so this could be circa December 1969. Malcolm Clements.

Tuesday 10/02/1976 sees a Class 101/111 DMU pass through the disused Sheffield Victoria station with a Sheffield-Huddersfield service. Part of the Woodhead route, this station was closed on 05/01/1970. Graeme Phillips Collection.

Class 114 DMU at Wadsley Bridge

16th September 1978

A Sheffield Midland to Huddersfield train passes through Wadsley Bridge station on 16 September 1978 formed of a Class 114 DMU. At this time this service was routed via the former GC line through Sheffield Victoria to Penistone. Wadsley Bridge station closed to regular traffic on 15 June 1959, however it remained in use for football specials for matches at Hillsborough with some service trains also calling on match days.
