Sunderland - South Shields

Two-car DMUs, allocated to South Gosforth, were introduced to this 7¾ mile journey, and Newcastle - Sunderland services, on 18 August 1958.^[1]

The service was not included in timetables beyond June 1965. As there were no stations on the link between East Boldon and Tyne Dock no stations were closed, the existing stations continued to be served by Newcastle - Sunderland and Newcastle - South Shields services.
