An empty stock Class 127 unit was struck on a crossover by another Class 127 unit which had passed two red signals. The latter was deflected towards the Down fast line where it was struck a glancing blow by an express passenger train hauled by a Class 45 locomotive. Minor injuries. More Details.

Class 127 55971, set number 911, is seen on Tyseley Carriage sidings on 28.06.1987 . One of the cars was labeled for Parcels and one was for Newspapers. How times change when both types of traffic have been lost. This was converted from 51597. Andy Cole.

I photographed this Diesel Parcels Unit, carrying the set number 911, at Northampton in October 1986. The set is made up of vehicles 55981/55971, converted from Class 127 cars 51612/51597. Both vehicles had been new in August 1959 and were converted to DPUs in May 1985. The unit was withdrawn from service in May 1989 and both vehicles were scrapped by Mayer Newman at Snailwell. Lewis Bevan.

Class 127 55984, set number 914, is seen inside the factory at Tyseley while undergoing repairs on 01.04.1989. This car was rebuilt from 51639, from a passenger car into a parcels carrying car, complete with roller doors. These sets normally kept to formation, but 55984's partner 55974 was scrapped early on, and on this day it was partnered with 55971. Andy Cole.
