Class 127 Derby built DMUs at St Pancras with 51612 on the left, 27 December 1982. On Tour With the Class 13 Army.
This Class 127 (51612 + 59590 + 51596) in Cricklewood station in the summer of 1983 had been given a thorough clean, service and the paintwork touched up at Cricklewood depot. Apparently either the Greek Railways or a private line in Greece needed some new passenger trains at the time these were due to be withdrawn. The set then made a number of trial runs with various Greek officials onboard. Sadly nothing came of the affair. Note the white gutter the length of the train. Arno Brooks.
Life After Death. Class 127 DMBS M51612 stored at Carlisle Kingmoor Marshalling Yard. The relatively small size of the Guards Van is noticeable on these high density suburban vehicles. Displaced by the Bed-Pan electrification scheme, some found further work as Diesel Parcel Units, including this vehicle according to Railcar. Saturday 09 June 1984. alicia hartman.

I photographed this Diesel Parcels Unit, carrying the set number 911, at Northampton in October 1986. The set is made up of vehicles 55981/55971, converted from Class 127 cars 51612/51597. Both vehicles had been new in August 1959 and were converted to DPUs in May 1985. The unit was withdrawn from service in May 1989 and both vehicles were scrapped by Mayer Newman at Snailwell. Lewis Bevan.

M55981, ex Class 127 DMBS M51612, converted for parcels use with the addition of roller shutter doors and carrying the set number 911, sits in Basford Hall yard, Crewe on 21st July 1989. Paul James.

A Class 127 formed of 51614 + 59629 + 59603 + 51612 at Cricklewood. The slide process date was May 1979. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Cricklewood maintenance shed on 28-5-83, left to right are Class 127 Derby DMBSs 51596, 51612 and 51616. On Tour With the Class 13 Army.
Class 127 parcel vehicles M55984 + M55980, M55983 + M55973 and M55981 sit behind 03170 (the last ever Swindon works overhaul) and a brake van on Longsight TMD, 6-5-89. It was just over a week before the whole fleet of Class 127 DPUs were withdrawn, but these five were already out of use and used as a source of spare parts. Kevin Dowd.
