26th May 1980

Prior to the Rocket 150 cavalcade at Rainhill on May 26th 1980 and with spectators getting into position for the main event, an 8-Car Class 115 Suburban DMU pairing was approaching Rainhill station with one of the many shuttle services running from Manchester Victoria. Driving Motor Brake Second M51677 in refurbished livery was bringing up the rear, the other vehicles in its four-car set still carrying Rail Blue, whilst in the leading set, three cars were in refurbished colours with one intermediate car in Rail Blue.
