Three newly converted Class 127 parcel sets at Newton Heath depot, circa July 1985. This was the initial conversion before roller shutter doors were fitted. The closest vehicle is believed to be the former 51637, at this time numbered 55988 (which had been a Class 128 number) but would soon be renumbered as 55968. Michael Boot.

When the Class 127 DMUs finally bowed out of the St. Pancras - Bedford services, 22 power cars were resurrected from store at Carlisle Upperby (one of them, the pioneer 51591, was re-claimed from the NRM) and converted for parcels use. They were formed into 11 two car sets and allocated to Longsight in Manchester. Here set 918 with 55978 at the rear of 55968 is being led by set 912 (55972 & 55982) at Stafford, 20/Aug/1988. Robert Chilton.

Parcels unit 918 (55978 formerly 51608 and 55968 formerly 51637), converted from the power cars of a former "Bed-Pan" hydraulic class 127 set, sitting sadly withdrawn and awaiting it's fate at Crewe Gresty Lane sidings. Three of these ex-parcels power cars were preserved and currently (2018) all three are at the Midland Railway - Butterley. Robert Chilton.
